Look at the birds of the air

Captain C found a nest with 5 little eggs in our tree a few weeks ago and took a picture to show me.

Today, we heard some noise coming from the nest and an angry momma bird yelling at us form across the yard. So, after the kids all took a peek, I grabbed my camera and climbed the tree to get a picture (poor momma bird picked the wrong tree if she wanted privacy!). We were all amazed at the tiny birds that would be sleeping in a pile one second and at the sound of momma, perk up with beaks ready for a snack.

This pitiful little sight made me think of Matthew 6:26: Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

Some friends truly ARE friends forever ;)

One of my oldest and dearest friends recently moved back to our area. She called me and asked if I would do her daughters 3 year pics and I was thrilled to get to spend some time with her and jumped at the chance to photograph her little princess. We had a great morning with beautiful weather. We were trying to think of a cute note but were having a hard time finding something not TOO cheesy...or that didn't reference a certain Micheal W Smith song (don't send me hate mail if you are singing "that" song now). She came up with this and it fits perfectly. We have been friends for about 23 years (WOW) and go through times of not being connected but always pick up right where we left off when we meet up again. I love friends like that. Friends that know you, faults and all (Is having an autographed Tim, the Toolman picture a fault? How about losing your friends autographed Toolman pic?), and like you anyway, really are beautiful!

In hindsight, we probably should have taken OUR picture before we chased 4 kids around Gilcrease for 2 hours ;) Also in hindsight, I should have taken my keys and phone out of my pocket before taking a picture - lol. Oh and I found a picture of us from 1991 that I had to scan. We were spending a week at New Life Ranch with our youth group. Notice the lovely scalloped edges in the scrapbook...yeah, I used to scrapbook *sigh*. I laughed when I saw this that we are wearing the same colors today, 19 years later!

Love ya, girl!

Praise the Lord!

Our boys decided last week that they wanted to be baptized. They were both saved already and had put off being baptized for various reasons but on Easter told us they were ready. Our church has them write out their testimony to read (or have read) at their baptism and here is what they wrote:

Captain C: I became a Christian on September 8, 2005, which was 5 years ago. Before that, I had been asking my parents many questions about the Bible and Jesus. That night, I came downstairs to talk to my mom because I felt that I needed to become a Christian. She asked me a couple of questions to make sure I knew what it meant to become a Christian and then I prayed a prayer asking Jesus to come into my life. I have been learning more about Jesus and since He was perfect and He got baptized, that means that I need to be baptized too. Being a Christian, I have the Holy Spirit with me to help me make decisions, like this decision to get baptized today.

Tricky T: I wanted to become a Christian and I have loved Jesus all my life. Last year, on Good Friday, when we were celebrating Easter, we were making Resurrection Rolls in the kitchen. I asked if I could finally become a Christian so Jesus would forgive all my sins and I could go to Heaven when I die. My dad said I could, because I finally knew enough to understand what I was doing. And then I copied Dad when he prayed and then I become a Christian! That night we went to church and I told Pastor Andrew and I got to have the Lord’s Supper for the first time. The next Easter, God told me to get baptized so I knew I needed to get baptized. And that is what I am going to do so I can show others that I have become a Christian. And that is my testimony.

I love that our church lets the fathers be the one to do the baptizing if they want to. Such a neat thing for the boys and Daddy! I took a few pictures during and was thankful that Grandma was there to video for me (which is being uploaded to facebook right now...I hope...if you want to watch it), then when we came home, I asked them why they did it and took these pics for the blog.

Reading C's testimony...T wanted to peek at what was happening (he was a little nervous!)

And I wanted to include this picture uncropped too because I think it is cool that the kids get up on the stage during the baptisms for a front row seat. We have had 3 other kids get baptized in the past few weeks (one friend went right before the boys today - yay) and I think it helps that they see that it isn't scary.

Fun Friday Foto: Shadows

Check it out...I am posting my Fun Friday Foto ON Friday. Woohoo! I actually took these pics yesterday, not having looked at the challenge yet. T was walking on the window sill (on the lower level of the house...no worries) and it looked cool from my desk. Then P jumped in and the rest is history. They were doing fine until the last pic below, when she tried to kiss him (he is STILL anti-kisses). I guess these aren't technically shadows but they sure look like them so I am counting them ;o) I was going to have them redo them today and pose them, but was doing a senior session when the light is right so missed it. More fun to see them as they really were anyway.

Thank you, Jesus....for Easter!

We have been reviewing all about Easter with the kids this week. They have made a cool lapbook and we have read the story from the Bible several times. I hate how commercial both Christmas and Easter are and we are working hard to make sure the kids know what Jesus did for them, us, and everyone. We made these Resurrection Rolls last year and wanted to do it again as a hands-on example of the empty tomb.

It didn't work as well as I remember (surprise, surprise) but the kids loved it and were totally looking for the marshmallow, which is the point - yay.

Once again, I am a day late on my Fun Friday Foto...but the theme is Easter so this counts ;)
