Crazy Hair Night!

To celebrate the end (or almost end) of our Wednesday night kid's program at church, we had Crazy Hair Night tonight at church.  Tricky T was well on his way, just by waking up today...but the rest of us had to do a little work. I am a small group leader (I think that is what we are called??) and couldn't be outdone by my kiddos. I have never been so ready for a shower after church - that was a lot of hairspray!! You can't tell in this pic, but P had about 12 pony tails that, of course, each had their own bow. She kept them all in all night! We were quite the sight. Thankfully, we fit right in when we got to church :)

We had a fun night to wrap up a great year. I appreciate all the hard work people have put in to make it such a good year! Now bring on summer!!

Pick your battles

As parents, we had to learn early on to pick our battles. Some things are not optional. Period. But some things could go either way. Like hair. Captain C really, really wants to let his hair be all shaggy and gross looking. Ok, I am ignoring that as much as I can. As long as it is clean, I am trying to not tell him that he looks like a doofus and one day he will, most likely, blame me for this 'do when he looks back on pictures. I'm letting it go. I'm trying to let it go. Tricky T has it in his head that mohawks are awesome. Last year, I gave in and let him have it...harmless fun, right? He doesn't ask for much and I can deal with the looks and comments if he is happy. Really, it is hair. It grows back (and fast on that kid....I think he is part Chia Pet!). He has been asking for over a month if it is time for his mohawk yet. I was hoping he would forget about it....but he didn't. Tonight is crazy hair night at kid church and what better time than now to let the boy have his wish.  Thankfully, he is cute!

I need to remember to sunscreen his white head for a while, huh? His hair was so long that I need to trim up the remaining hair...but waiting until after tonight so he can have more to work with....then we will calm it down a little. I hope ;)

Happy Mother's Day!

I love, love, love being a mom. I know that God chose our kiddos just for us and I can't imagine raising any greater kids. They have showered me with love today and I am so thankful for them. I love when they make me things and I got my fill today. I couldn't begin to completely list the random gifts I was given from these three but they included toy necklaces (see picture), $1 and some change, pencils that I used last week for testing, a Webkinz (that needed to be returned as I was "just getting to borrow it"), precious notes and pictures from all three and a battery...because every child gift comes with batteries taped to it, I guess. Captain C had the great idea to dip things in chocolate for me and Big T helped him cover strawberries (fresh from our garden), Oreos, and Ritz/peanut butter sandwiches with melted chocolate because, and I quote from his card, "Nothing says I love you like chocolate". Princess P helped Big T pick out some new clothes for me too. She has quite the opinion on fashion and did a great job (aka. no returns!). A yummy lunch of steak, twice baked potatoes and corn on the cob, followed by a huge (like, bigger than the pan, huge...thankfully it is Mother's Day so Big T cleaned the oven after - haha) cookie cake and it has been a perfect day.

And, in case you can't read the boys shirt...here is another ;) We got these for less than a buck at Old Navy this winter and C crossed out the 2009 and put 2010 and wore it to church today. Now THAT is love ;)

Who's the Boss?

Today, Princess P and I were taking advantage of Old Navy's 30% off sale and helping them clean out their clearance items. We came across this dog shirt for 75 cents and had to get it. I am not one to dress up my dog. I think it is stupid. Really stupid. But, come on....75 cents. You know I had to buy it to surprise Big Daddy and Captain C when they got home today. And it doesn't hurt to remind the wondermutt just who's boss every now and then!

Oh yeah, she's a chick magnet alright ;)

Fun Friday Foto: Catch Up Post

Like I said, I have been a total blog slacker. So today is catch up day. I have missed pretty much all of the Fun Friday Fotos for the month of April but hope to do better in May. So here are a few that I missed.

Fun Friday Foto: Movement

Fun Friday Foto: Nature (hoping to have lots of strawberries in the backyard soon!)

Fun Friday Foto: Texture (hope this counts...the storm rolling in kinda looks like a texture)

OK, I think that catches me up. Now bring on MAY!

Be the Moon

Tricky T really likes the planets (those that know him, know his fave ;)) and giggles every time he hears someone talk about the moon (thanks to Big Daddy and their mooning lesson). So when I saw this shirt at Mardels on clearance, I had to get it for him. I have been a total slacker on this blog lately (check out www.leportraits.com/blog for why!) so figured this was worth a post ;) He fixed his own hair, by the way (he keeps begging for another mohawk already).
