Fun Friday Foto

This week's Fun Friday Foto challenge was to take a picture of a loved one without them being in it. One of my sisters is here visiting from AL and we decided to do a picture dedicated to our 3rd sister that couldn't be here but wishes she was :) We miss you, KJ, and wish you were here.

Home Alone!

Big T and I had a much needed date night last night. We had a great dinner at the Melting Pot (thank to the generosity of some sweet client/friends), watched a movie and even had a full night's sleep thanks to Grandma and Grandpa for keeping the kiddos over night. That is always a mixed feeling. It is great to have some adult time but also really weird not having the kids here. We woke up this morning and realized we were:

(PS. after wearing "Happy New Year" on my arm for several days, I tried out eyeliner this time for the skin art. Not as dark but happy to have it wash right off ;) )

Fun Friday Foto: Sweet

Again, I had to think about this Fun Friday Foto. What is sweet? Candy ... sure. Coke ... I vaguely remember how sweet that is ;) The smell of a freshly bathed baby ... don't have any of those anymore :( Which brought me to this. When all three kids get along, now THAT is sweet! I hope they will always remember how sweet it is to have a sibling and that God chose them as a gift to each other.

Love

I can't imagine my life without my amazing family. I love, love, love Big T and the kids more than anything else on earth. Here we are before church this morning (and before I did P's hair - oops!):

I have issues...

A friend and I met at McD's for lunch today so the kids could play and she added in a sweet little, "I know you don't like the germs, bring your sanitizer" disclaimer. Now, don't get me wrong, I am not a germ freak or anything but seriously people, there are germs....and then there are McD's GERMS. Ugh. Makes me woozie just thinking about my kids crawling around in who knows what.....oh my.....and then eating with those same hands. So I loaded up my kids +1 and met CW and son at the germiest place on earth.

PS. I was excited to finally figure out how to get pics off my phone. I'm apparently a little slow ;)

Fun Friday Foto: A loved one

I had a way too busy for my liking week this week and didn't get take the time to get my Friday challenge done. I woke up this morning to this on my keyboard and knew that it  reflected my favorite loved one. Big T is so thoughtful with little things like this. He has worked late all week and it seems like we have been passing in the sea of basketball, school, church, karate, dinner, cleanup, sleep, etc all week so this sweet reminder of his love this morning makes me really look forward to this weekend when we will actually see each other while it is still light outside.

Our family

For her presentation in her class at Classical Conversations tomorrow, Princess P had to draw a picture of her family. She drew us each and then cut us out and glued us onto cardboard.  I was pretty impressed that she did it all on her own except she asked me to cut out a heart the her because she was "so tired of cutting".  What I liked most was that she put a "rock star" shirt on C and a camo shirt on T...totally perfect for their likes.

I blacked out our names up top...just so you know what those lines are ;)

That's our dog peeking out from behind C's leg...she is looking a little thin!

Fun Friday Foto: The color of love

This week's theme is "The Color of Love". I thought about this for a while and decided on CRIMSON. Big T loves OU. I couldn't care less before we met. I graduated from OBU (Bison, feel free to go with Ka-Rip now, we'll wait....) and just didn't put much thought into the state schools. Big T, on the other hand, is a die hard OU fan from birth (who graduated from OSU, but that is another post all together). I never wore red as a kid...or until we met, really. It clashes with my hair ;) But now, we wash at least one red load of laundry a week around here and the kids first words would have been "Boomer Sooner" if T had anything to say about it (thankfully, I am home with them so give them some balance). So, here is my color of love...for you, honey.

And yes, the boys have lockers in their room. Being homeschooled, they felt they were missing out so we found some super cheap on craigslist and spray painted them and they love them. C likes that he can lock things in there and keep them safe from little hands and T just likes having a place to fill up with all his stuff that he can't stand to throw away.

Love ("T" Style)

Last month, I had the kids tell what they wanted to be when they grow up. This month, I asked them to write what they love. Before they started shouting out their favorite Wii game or Buffet City, I took it a little further and asked them, "If everything was taken away from you, what would you hope to be left with? What do you love the very most?" Tricky T took a piece of paper and came back with this:

It says, "I love God. He's my only hope. He saved me. I love God. He made the heavens and the earth and He made the water and He made the land and the animals and the light and the dark. On the 7th day he rested."

I was blown away (and not from the poor spelling and major run-on sentence). Tricky T  HATES writing and anything that resembles school work. But he does love God and I am proud of him for writing all that out all on his own. When he was little, we used to joke that he would be a pastor one day. He had a little Gideon Bible that he carried e.v.e.r.y.w.h.e.r.e with him. It was worn out...but he would "read" it all the time. Even slept with it for a while. Who knows what God has planned for him but I can't wait to watch him grow up. I found a couple of old shots of him when he was four with his prized possession.

Hi, I'm Leslie...

...and I love Coke. (Hi, Leslie)

I started on a weight loss challenge with my sisters, brother-in-laws, and mother a little over 4 weeks ago. One of my biggest calorie wasters for me was pop. I crave it sometimes. Oh the sugary, sweet refreshing goodness....that is horrible for you....yum. I knew I had to either cut that out or run 2 hours a day to burn those calories and since I don't like to run unless I am being chased, I cut the Cokes out. Yesterday, I was working from 11-4 taking homeschool co-op pics and didn't really eat much before I left (dumb, I know), so was starving. They didn't have a snack machine but I heard someone mention pop. I perked up...but resisted. I am proud to say that I have now gone:

Woohoo. Baby Steps. I bought some limes to put in my water to make it more enjoyable...I would prefer to add a few more and a cup of sugar, and might as well throw in some cherries and crush the ice while I am at it, but I am sticking to good old water. yum.

Hey - it is working though so worth it. I might not have to buy bigger pants after all ;)
